Also my pencils would need to be able to work over the top of paints. I’ve seen Holbein gets many high reviews, I purchased one color (shell pink) and am not to sure about these paints, but I’ve only played around with one color so far. What have you experienced to be pros and cons of both brands? If you could would you continue buying Daniel Smith paints or are Holbein just as close in quality? Daniel Smith Vs Holbein Artist Watercolors.
I would like to ask for input from experienced watercolor artists, about quality of two different brands. I have been buying colors from Daniel Smith extra fine range (I have 8 or so colors) and am looking to buy some more watercolors to add to my collection and considering Holbein Artist Watercolors. I am now wanting to use watercolors for soft blurred backgrounds for some of my drawings. I have been using watercolors to tone my paper (arches medium CP) when I have wanted to work on a colored surface.
I enjoy drawing animals in colored pencils and have been slowly building up my watercolor paints.
